My wife is my main waterfowl hunting partner. Looking at updating her Winchester 1300 20 gauge to a automatic. What would be your first choice for a new 20 gauge automatic. Please give me some suggestions as it is her birthday at the end of this month. Price range is under $700 dollars.

My first pick would be Benelli Montefeltro. THey are really sharp looking guns and light as a feather, but the price might be a little steep. I am guessing that it would be closer to $800, but I would at least look into it. I think Benelli makes the M90 in 20 ga. also.

My next choice would be a Remington 11-87. They would be cheaper and are still really nice, they are just not quite as light and as smooth as a Benelli.

Good Luck!

I just got a Franchi 20ga. 620vs for my girl friend. It is great, super lite. I paid 700 for it. Hope this helps.

I would second both the Benelli M1 in 20 guage, and the Franchi's.

Both dependable guns.

I just bought a Franchi 720 for my wife and daughter to use and I love it. Last weekend we had a shoot for DU and shot over 500 rounds and no malfuntions, and no soreness. It shots as well as my M1 20.

Some smart dudes on here! I second the Benelli, or Franchi, but for the money, I especially think the Remington 11-87 is a great gun. You can get one at Walmart (11-87 premier 20 gauge) for $550.00.

Thanks guys for the input on auto 20's. I will be looking at a benelli, Franchi, and the remington 11-87. I will bring her to the gun shop and have her handle each one and see what fits her the best. Thank you for your help:)

Good luck! I think that is awesome that she loves to hunt with you! My wife has been out alittle with me, she does it for me, but it is not her favorite thing. Nothing better than having a family that all loves to hunt, and understands what it means. :D

The real nice thing about having a wife that loves to shoot ducks and geese is that you never have to ask twice to go on a waterfowl outing. Now it is hard to just get out with the boys!!

I know an older guy that shoots a Benelli monefeltro 20 gauge. Its awesome. Really light and pulls up great. Doesnt kick at all. I think they run around $800 or $900 though, but it would be worth it. I think the name BENELLI says it all. I'd maybe check out a Beretta too.

Warden247, how big or small is she? I bet she could handle a 12 gauge. This would give her alot more range. I'd check out Benelli M2's for a 12.

She is about 120 lbs. She has shot my SX2 before on clays a couple of time. She just likes the feel and weight of a 20 gauge. She is confident with it and let me tell you this girl can put them down. So range isn't a big factor.
