KILLER WEED?

Has anybody used Killerweed and had sucess with it? I looked on the cabelas website and the reviews were bad, they said it wasnt very effective. Im hunting the edge of a lake in muddy shortgrass stuff with my ground force, is it worth the money to get it?

Ive seen the killer weed but my thoughts are why would you pay for cover when you have tons of NATURAL cover all around you that is free. You will blend alot better if you use the natural surroundings. Don't clear a whole section around you, go off and pick the vegitation away from the spread. That is of course if your regualtions allow it, but I couldn't see how they would disallow picking grass. Just my .02 cebts

the last time i used 'killer weed' was back in the duck blind the morning of december 1st 06 and to my luck a C.O was chilling behind me, to my surprise he was toking it right up with us!!! amazing, as for success, nah you can't really hit ducks on that stuff!!!!! LOL

We've had success using it. There's a few of us that work night shift and we don't have the most time first thing in the morning to pick natural grass for the blinds so it helps us out a lot. Although I prefer to pick the natural grasses because they blend in perfect where as the killer weed will look a little off. Some people only do half their blinds with the killer weed and half with natural still saves time. Here's a pic of some of our blinds with all killer weed.

What do you guys think about it for a boat blind?

I think we are gonna pick up a couple of the boat blind kits. I think they are $50 a piece. It doesn't look like one kit will do a 14 ft boat so we probably will need two.

When it comes to Killer Weed, or anyother type of Synthetic grass material, i think and personally only use them as a filler...and anyone that uses the stuff on a regular basis will tell you the same thing as me...nothing and im mean NOTHING is as effective as natural vegitation for concealment...

if your gonna use killer weed, or any of the other grass like products, use them as a filler to ADD to the natural vegitation that you will add later, because if used properly the killer weed can be left on the blind and you can swap in and out natural vegitation as the situation calls for it...

painting the "killer weed" is also another way to to make it more effective.. and would also suggest that for the boat kits....


either way, one thing stands true....natural natural natural ! will get them in closer...the more you match your surroundings, the less they will see you...

Another note: another thing to remember is when setting you blinds, always take a few mins and walk around the setup, to make sure they are dug right, or covered enough, and then take a walk, walk far outside the decoy spread and look at the blinds, make sure that they look like they are part of the landscape, and remember anything that looks out of place on the ground...is going to look realllllly out of place from the air..!

Killer weed worked for me a couple times this year. I have permission on a couple sod fields and hunt early season geese on them. The people that own the fields woul not let us take real grass out there in fear of it seeding and getting a cross breed. So that is where the killer weed came in to play it worked great for us. Other wise I am 100% natural vegitation from where I am huntin like Drop Em said.

Well, the reason I asked is because the guys and I are going to Canada this October and we are not sure we can get any natural vegitation from the fields so we just want to be ready for anything. Just need to know if one kit covers a blind completely as they advertise or do I need more? :D

One kit does not cover the blind completely...atleast not in my opinion. I like for the blind to be completely covered and one kit wouldn't do it. I would say three kits will do two blinds.

Two kits will probably do your finisher and mutt hut. Doesn't take as much to do the dog blinds.

heres a tip for the stubble fields in Canada, take a rake with you and get away from your spread and rake up what you can get, don't worry you will get plenty of cover that way. This what we do in North Dakota works well

I use KW on all my blinds mixed with Rafia grass from Wal MArt I got for .20 a bundle.

I use this mix as a sort of base coat then fill in the majority with surrounding vegatation or cover. This allows me time to set up the way I want and if I run short of set up time I am still covered and can add as I go that morning.

One thing I always do is mud my artifical grass with the blind. Don't know if it helps or I need to, but I feel better!

You are right about a few of the fields in Canada it is sparse cover and a base layer will help.
