Help! The upcoming season is soon and I'm having difficulties. Last year around Dec I bought a strait meat honker with the calling geese 2 DVD. I've watched the DVD atleast a dozen times (no joke), but can't seem to get down anything past a simple cluck. Whenever I blow the call it sounds too high pitched and not even close to the crispiness that I need. I keep my tongue down like Jeff says in the DVD and follow his instruction religiously. I know this is an extremely tough thing to help with over the net, but any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I had a though time too switching from the flute to the short reed. Try chocking down the call a bit more and it should deaden the sound a bit..

Did you mess with the reed at all? if so that could be the problem

Your reed should be set up like this:

Furthermore, are you holding the call with both hands the way Jeff demonstrates in 2.0?

The reeds are in the correct position. I haven't messed with them at all. I have the hand positions down just like Jeff does. Its just difficult for me to control and figure out what if anything that I should say into the call and its tough to control the amount of air. Not quite sure how much should be going into the call. I'm located in Sioux Falls, SD... not exactly the ideal place for killing honkers, but it works.

When I said Sioux Falls isn't the place for killing honkers... I should have also said that I'm from the duck capital of North Dakota (Gackle) and I'm used to seeing literally 10's of thousands of geese and have yet to see that here. Maybe I'm just in the wrong areas.
