I'll be hunting in nothern california out of a flooded rice field. I want to make my spread in an L shape with the long part consisting of geese decoys and the short part mallards and throw a couple of pintail check decoys on the check. My question is, is it worth the money to get flocked head goose floaters or can i just drop the 150 and get a dozen carry lites off cabelas? Im more interested in shooting ducks than geese and I've heard that this type of spread is dynamite for shooting ducks and occasionally geese. Thanks guys.
"Who wants to wake up at 430 in the morning hung over to go sit in a metal box, after 3 hours of sleep? Who will go out in the pouring rain and hurricane winds to shoot ducks and geese? I know I would because its in me, its in my blood......I am a waterfowler."

Some would argue that flocked heads on floaters are pointless due the glare off of the water. Any glare from an un flocked head would be consumed by the water shine. I hunted several flocked head Bigfoots mixed in with some unflocked ones, and from the ground level point of view, the difference is dramatic. Neccesary? no.... Am I more confident now that all my heads are flocked? yes. Just my experience.

I was just giving my opinion on how I would set up. I realize the question is about flocked or not. I find that it is personal preference. I have never had a problem killing geese with my Big Foot Floaters without flocked heads.

If you are more concerned with shooting ducks than geese, then I would say spend the money on duck deeks and buy 8 big foot floaters for $180

I'am with Zippy. I hunt and work with him and we have never had a problem. I think the trick is being where the birds want to be at the time they want to be there. I will tell you that flocked heads stay dirty longer especially if they stay wet or its muddy.

personally it doesnt make much of a difference. I have killed tons of geese while duck hunting with 4 non flocked BF, but since i put another 4 flocked Bfs ive killed a lot more but that could just be i have more dekes?
