View Full Version : Quality of the reeds.
I would like to know how long a reed lasts in a short reed call that you offer and do you have these reeds available if one does break?
Thank you.

As for how long a reed lasts...it depends on how shaved it is, how hard you blow call, what notes you are blowing (spits, willis, etc.), etc. There are a lot of factors. I have had reeds last up to a year. Most reeds, under normal "hunting only" use will last about a year. If you are comp calling...it really depends. I have heard of guys cracking, splitting, bubbling, etc. reeds in a day.
As for being able to get reeds....there is a bountiful supply at the shop. They will be able to get you as many as you would like. Give them a shout at 866-83-GEESE.
Hope that helped answer your questions.

I've had reeds run 2-3 years under normal use. I tuned a call for a guy last weekend who's call was 6 years old and that was the first time it had been taken apart. Reed was in good shape.
