I heard it 3 times now that winchester is shuttin down and sellin its products to browning. I have no idea if this is true or not but a guy I know just bought a brand new 1300 and a 270 short from the factory for 5oo dollars. Has anyone else herd this?

From earlier posts it has been said that they are closing a factory not going under.

Winchester firearms (US repeating arms) has actually been owned by browning (FN) for a while. They are as stated simply closing a plant, and shifting gears. The ammo side is still Olin and no changes. The firearm side will still be making the SX2, SX3, and new SXR (looks like a browning BAR) rifle. From what I understand they will still be supporting the Model 70, 1300, and lever action guns, just not manufacturing or selling them anymore. Rees has more info, I know he talked to them about it a few months back.

Browning has "owned" (the rights) to Winchester for many years. They are shutting down 1 plant in the US, temporarily discontinuing the rifles and pump shotguns. The SX2 and 3 lines are still being built.

From what I understand. The guns are being built over seas, and the ammo has not changed.
