can you belive the actually sell duck and goose bands on ebay my brother was searching for call lanyards and they came up who would honestly try to sell theire own hard earned bands i dont know about where everyone else hunts but in new hampshire they are few and far between this only my second season hunting i have 2 goose bands and a double banded mallard one being a reward band and everyone here tells me how lucky i am that a lot of people never shoot one here

ya its kidda a joke how people will actually buy them. they say some weren't even call in and you can do it. that screws up the whole survey

Don't blame the seller. I sure don't. They are supplying a product that is in demand. Without the buyers, they would have nothing to sell

Theres a lot of controversy over reporting bands, a lot of people think that by acually reporting the bands, it gives th fish and game service, a reason to cut bag limits, and seasons bag due to harvest reports, which is in fact part of the reason why they band birds in the first place..

i have run into a couple people with this mentalliy, personally it bugs me, but i wont get into a pissin match with them, i just nod and say, you could be write, when in my mind im thinking, you idiot thats the whole reason why they band them in the first place,

it just goes to show theres flaws in any system, what they need to do is come up with a way that they can track migration and harvest without interfearence with by outsiders,

dont get me wrong, i would do backflips if i shot a band ( which i havent ) hell i do backflips, just seeing banded birds, or collars..

but im not gonna be the guy that doesnt report them, im going to do what i think is right to ensure the conservation of our game, and make sure that theres birds for my grandchildren to hunt, and ensure that the resourse isnt tainted and do my part to make sure theres a future for waterfowl hunting..

remember....waterfowling isnt a sport....its a way of life

Some of the bands on ebay are copies that you can get custom to put on your mount so you can put the real band on your lanyard.

my bad my brain thinks faster than i can type my question was the bands on ebay all say "avise" bird band the ones that we shoot in nh have all said "write" bird band i was wondering the difference

Whats in the watter in N.H. All bands say Avise Bird Band and you can either call or write in depending on how old the band is.

Sorry I meant "water" and forgot to mention that I was at a hunting show a while back and at someones call booth they had big plastic jars full of bands and they were selling like crazy.I would rather have the four bands I actually killed than a lanyard full of lies.

Not all bands say Avise on them...I've got four, two have Avise and two are like you explained nh-hick. But I don't know why they are different.

If I'm not mistaken Avise bands are done by the feds in the western states and the Write bands or 1-800-327 bands are done by local DNR offices in the eastern states. I think most of it depends on locations. I do know that both bands are used by the US fish and wildlife service. Around here all we shot is 1-800 Write bands and guy's I know out west shoot all Avise bands.

Appologies to nh-hick actually none of my bands say avise on them they are all "write".Stupid foot in mouth moment on my part so public appologie to nh-hick from ct-dick. :oops:
