Most Gun cams need a digital Camcorder to record the footage on, as far as the ones i have looked at they do, you need a digital camcorder that has an AV input jack, the same jack that allows the camera to record from/to a VCR, which is usually where the gun/hat cam plugs into...i would suggest th DVD over the MiniDV recorders because i think you can record a lot longer on them, like mine is a MiniDV which is Digital but it uses miniDV tapes and i can only get 60min tapes which if i run on EP ( extended play ) i can run them for 90mins, but i lose one of the channels for recording sound...which is ok, but then i cannot run an external mic, but i usually end up swapping tapes out during a day o hunting..
hope this helps

Justin pretty much sumed it up but it's hard to find camcorders now a days with av imput because most people don't use them. The ppl at all the different electronic stores said most companies have stopped putting them onto camcorders because most people don't use them and the av imput is just another option that costs extra money. I got my minidv digital camcorder off ebay new for about $200. It's not a really good one, but all I use it for is the gun cam and it works fine.
Mine records everything onto SD memory cards. A 1 GB card holds 90 minutes of video. I have only used the gun cam a few times so far, but I always have 2-1 GB cards and a 512 MB (1/2 of a GB) with me so basically about 4 hours worth if needed. I took about an hour worth saturday and about the same sunday. What I did was everytime I shot, I stopped recording and then started up again. That way, I pretty much knew where in the clips I had my shooting. My computer divides each clip into several. Usually the last few frames are where my shots are. It's honestly a pain in the ass, but I think it's worth it. I'm trying to get quite a bit of footage early, because I know I'm not going to want to mess with it once it gets cold.
PM me if you have any questions that I can maybe answer.
