SITUATION: Hunting from a boat blind and you suddenly have mutliple birds or training bumpers in the water.
Do you guys let the dog bring each bird/bumper all the way up and into the boat, or do you take it from his mouth as he swims along side the boat then send him back out for the next one?

if he has all the birds marked and you are confident he does then take the bumpers or birds from his mouthat the boat, but if you shot one when he was on the water he may not have seen it the dog will need to be brought back into the boat to be re-sent on a line to the bird

I say bring him all the way back in the boat
1.) I insist on a heel and sit before I take the bird
2.) The dog marked from the boat, that is where he will remember the mark from.(The POV changes at water level)

I hear ya man. I've been trying to call him to the side, thinking it will be easier on him for the follow-up retrieve; but he keeps climbing back into the boat after each one. I guess I'll keep it (him) as it is.
