My SMM is single, my TR is double, I just pre-ordered the DM yesterday and askedfor it to be Double with an extra single reed and cork for it.

1 SMM in double reed real high pitch, 1 SMM double reed low and raspy, 1 SMM single reed. Just can't beat the SMM.

Double reed SMM, for hunting you can't beat a double reed, for comp. calling definitely a single reed.

My duck calls (SMMs & TRs) are mostly single reeds.....a little more versatile for me and I really don't like the real raspy sound of a double. That being said, I have a wood legend, and the only way for that call to be set up is in a double reed......and recently got a TR insert from the shop that sounds similar to the Legend, but better.....so that is also set up in a double also.
When I get my DM, I am sure it will be a single reed as well.
