Is there an 'advantage' one way or the other between the cork wedge vs the plastic wedge? Or is the plastic wedge just the newer system? I have an older SMM and TR that have corks, as well as a SMM and TR with theplastics.

Is the wedge plastic or rubber?

i honestly dont know if there is an advantage cause they prety much do the same thing. one disadvantage is that cork will not last as long. i just had midwest convert my legend to a single reed and the rubber and reed were too loose so he put a cork in it. he said he normally has to replace his a few times durin the season.

Cork will give you a better sound out of your call. The only draw back is that it will dry out and needs replaced often. I usually replace the cork in my calls 3 or 4 times a season. The rubber wedges sound fine and are plenty good for a hunting call. The advantage of the rubber wedges is that they practically never wear out.

Are the cork stoppers still available? Can they be specified if I were to order a set of reeds? Thanks.
