Alright, i usually dont hunt our spot on back to back days because i dont want to over shoot the area and scare the birds away. But this week i have a 3 day weekend and was thinking about shooting on Friday & Sat. Do you guys hunt the same area on back to back day's? Do you change decoy set-ups the next day if you do?

I have hunted the same area back to back. I don't like too, but have done it. Yes I do change the spread.

Strictly from a goose standpoint, i'm blessed to be in an area with an amazing local goose population. Most of our hunts are completed very early, partially due to a very conservative limit. My advise to someone from my area would be to kill your limit, get the hell out before the rest of the birds on the roost got out, and then come back the next day and shoot birds that didn't see your spread in the first place. That being said, maybe you could setup in a different part of the field if you're talking field hunting, and if possible where you are, leave the early the first day.

Either way, good luck to you!

Thanks for the advice.

I should have added that i am hunting ducks, over water. Our local Population is ok. But they are getting wise to it being hunting season. I think i may go on thursday instead and give them Friday off.

I hunted this past weekend on back to back mornings and did not do as well on the second day. That could have been because of the difference in weather on both days as well. Plus, we pick decoys up every time we quit for the day which helps when decoying ducks on a day to day basis. I hunted a blind last season on numerous back to back days on the weekend and usually shot ducks every day, but that could have all been because of my location. Hope this helps and good luck!!

A few weeks ago I was in La Crosse, WI and we knew an area the birds were working pretty hard. First day was a blue bird day and shot 4 with 3 guys all day. The second day we set up in the same spot, same spread and shot 30 ducks between 6 guys in 2 hours. If the birds want to be in an area, I think weather plays the primary factor when deciding on days to hunt. Just my two cents.

I hunt back to back days in the same location quite often I believe that if the birds are around than it wont play a factor as long as the weather is good. I hunt the water 90% of the time though.

Earlier this year I hunted the same back water on some public land back to back days. Actually it was the evening before and then the next morning. The evening before we did some shooting out there and after shooting hours were over we picked up out doz decoys and got outta there. Went back the next morning with the same amount of decoys, saw twice as many birds, and had them work twice as well to pull a limit that morning. So I don't see anything wrong with it at all. I think the main reason we had luck was because we only threw out 6 mallards, 4 pintails, and 2 butt ups, where as everyone else out there throws out spreads of 2 dozen or more. Mix it up from everyone else and you will be fine :)

We hunt our fields friday thru Sunday. some days are back to back. sadly, we have to hunt these feilds some days back to back bc of amount of area we have and wind direction. but try your hardest to change the spread. Early in the morning we will usually make it look more spread out like ducks just landing and feeding. Later in the day we change again for a more resting spread. but always moving them around each day when we toss dekes. alot more movement and mojos in the morning with less movement and spinners in the later portion of the day. Try to shoot the smaller volleys of 2's and 3's and leave the bigger groups to come back. don't over knowledge the birds cause it will burn you in the long run! hope it helps

Thanks! That's what i was looking for. I'll change up the size and set-up of my spread & see how it works out.
