so 2 night i went over to help my mom with some yard work and to play with my two hunting dogs i have a yellow lab (Decoy) my waterfowl dog and a germen shorthair (Jack) my upland dog. i just moved out like 9 months ago so i try to make it over there and play with them when im not ethir at school or working. wel 2night i did my yard work and when i was done i let the dogs out like usual i left them out for like 7 min before i notice my lab was in the front yard. so right away i new that my pointer Jack had got out as well. but the big diffrence is that he likes to go exploreing shall we say. now i dont know if i left the gate open or my dogs jumpd it or opend it them selves they have opend it by them selfs before. but anyway i live in a rual area in ham lake and have land and woods all around me with a smei busy road not to far away. first i took my bike up and down my road yelling for him over and over. then while doing that i could fately hear some one yelling hes over here from the next road over so i got in my car and huald ass over ther when i got ther the person told me the dog got away from him and went east. so i went to the next road up and drove up and down yelln his name over and over. well i got back on the main road and turn on my caution lights and brights and drove real slow when i seen him running full speed down the side of the road and weaving into the middle. i caught up to him and he saw me i yelld his name opend my door and yelld his name again and he stopd as i lookd to the west i saw a van coming right at him and it was Pitch black so i honkd my horn millions of times and flashd my brights on off on off over and over and also had my caution lights and my car was all most in that cars lane and it was like slow motion my dog saw me and was happy and was running to me and just like that the van didnt even slow down after all i was doing and hit my hunting buddy dead on immideitly i got out of the car and saw that he was not moving so i went into anger mode i freakd i screamd at the top of my lungs swearing yelling crying freaking out. right before i got to the van i saw that my dog had its head up so i raN over to him and pulled him out of the middle of the road while doing that we both almost got hit to more times i could have slap the windows of those 2 cars they could see me and they wer not paying attention after that i sat holding my bleeding dog crying and yeling and over 10 cars slowd down lookd at me and just drove away i dont understand this y? how can people be like this ? i cant even begin to explaine my feeling they wher a mix of anger rage confused panic fraustrated sad helpless. i dont understand this i dont know how more bluntly i could have made it for that van to pay attention and slow down or stop. now my bestfriend my hunting buddy is in intensive care at the U of M. hanging by a thread. and im coverd in blood and tears. and broken. I just had to get this off my chest im sorry for those how dont like this but its helping me. thank you

sorry to hear that brother, and hope your hound is ok. I can't imagine the horro of having to watch that happen, and there's nothing worse than to be powerless to help someone in pain that we love. Hope that The U can help him along and you two get many more seasons afield together.

This was my dog danx. He was only 8 months old and was hit by a truck on the 4th of july 2003. This pic was taken an hour before he was hit. The truck didnt stop or even hit the brakes, Danx broke his back and I had to shoot him. It scarred me for life. That really sucks I know how you feel.

Sorry for your loss.

I know a guy with a german shorthair that got hit. And he took his dog to a college in Indiana somewhere, his dog pulled out and is fine now we hunted over it once last year but this year Bruce says the dog will be a 100%. Good luck man hope he pulls through.

Im sorry to hear about the accident. This summer I had my dog over at my sisters house and they had a kid take him to the park. The kid let him off the leash and must have not been paying attention and someone stole him. I was pretty upset about it. Its tough to lose a family member like that.

sorry to hear this, its one thing to have a dog hit by a car but to have the car stopped in the road and have that idiot do that is just unreal, any word on how your buddy is doin?
