Had my lab Jock out in the back yard today first workout in a couple of months . Just wondering if that old saying is true that you can't teach an old dog new tricks . He going to be three in May not to old yet and I want to teach he how to under stand hand signals. for birds he didn't mark is he to old to start learning something new or not.

Just had hawk and Jet out in the Saskcawan River in Edmonton, ice was floating about 12 inch chunks and a lot of current. Those 2 were flat wore out when they were done. Took some awesome pictures in the ice though. Keep workin them. Jeff

I have a yellow male that will be three in nov and about a month ago I started with hand signels and at first it was realy frustrating. If your dog will sit on a whistle it will just take alot of repetion. My dog has finally caught on so I dont think your dog is to old. The dog will definatly test your patience though. Just keep working him and he will finally get the hang of it.
Good luck

JPS Flock...
yes, just take it slow and your dog should pick it up...always try to test them and teach them new things...dogs really do enjoy learning most of the time...it keeps things fun and fresh... for both dog and handler..
I know when I let things go with mine for a little while we both get bored and then they tend to get sloppy...
go have fun with them...good luck..
