They have got to be north of us, we havent seen the numbers yet. North wind all week, hopefully will blow some birds down.

Goosemancl, I just looked at where Arlington, MN is and you're about straight north of us. So the birds you see we'll probably see eventually....obviously not the exact same birds you see but you know what I mean. Are you seeing quite a few move in or just small pushes so far? Thanks

Like Derek said, we have no or very few migratory canadas here right now. And it not being so mild, the birds that are here aren't having to feed heavily at all so it's damn hard to get on geese right now because they're either sitting in town or on the refuges. I know this time last year, we were puttin' the smack down on the honkers AND greenheads at Derek's dad's.

One Area has about 5000 birds"geese" another about 3500 birds and the last one about1200 birds so some have moved in but by far not the big push yet. Let the ducks come now and the geese in two weeks we have a late season for geese were we can shoot 5 each. That is when they start to pile up 5x5=a big pile of birds

Thats bull, we have a ton of birds down here in Jan and we can only shoot two. I think if we had a limit of 5 Illinios would be able to keep up with minn. as of #s. Whats wrong with these crappy rules? I want a limit of 5. Why should you have such a high limit? also I heard next year there goin to allow electronic calls in the early season, unplugged guns when they do that the skybusters will come out the woodwork. If thats what huntin is goin to come too Im gonna quit. Its hard enough to get the birds in as it is. We dont need to make these birds any smarter. Mabey I need to move north?

I agree. The way they do the regular season dates and bag limits is by flyway. Obviously, MN and IL are both in the Mississippi Flyway (so is Iowa). Notice most same-flyway states have similar length seasons and bag limits. I don't see how early season and late seasons should be different. :?

I don't want to even start with my opinions of Season dates. For all I care I believe that Mn and WI seem to be screwed over. I believe everyone in the U.S should be put on the same season length regardless of the location and the same bag limits. Everyone buys a federal stamp right? So why not make it equal for everyone!

according to this if they look anything like the ducks...the next NW wind should be a rediculous day out. Problem there is that it looks like they will all blow through in a day or two if it gets bad enough.

I totally agree :) Southern IL only has like a 60 day season. There season also should go to feb 15 or so

Just to inform you are early season and late goose seasons target local geese not migrants. 5 goose limit Our regular season limit is 2 which is during the migration It has nothing to do with who shoots more or what. We have an over populated resident goose population that they are trying to have the hunters take care off. What would be better some sharp shooters going out and killing thousands at a time or letting hunters enjoy harvesting them? Or would you prefer that they trap them and relocate them? ]Screw the hunters right! you don't live here so why should we benifit from early and late seasons! No I hate the idea of electronic calls and unplugged guns! As far as skybusting. I am a horrible shot past 40 yards so I won't even shoot I like to have their landing gear out and wings backpeddling. So don't criticize the real hunters. We do have some of those here in Minnesota. That is like saying that a spring snowgoose hunt is bogus the states that benifit from that is a joke. Why is there a hunt to try and control the population. Well it is the same in MN with early and late season hunts with higher limits. It is called Management.

We have the same problem in chicago its not right that thier poisining the geese, they should let hunters kill them. But its not right to have a limit of 5 then 20 miles away where they have the same problem and where its easier to get on property to have a limit of 2. I geuss its who you know or how much money is involved. I didnt mean to sound like a dick. Im just jealous I geuss.
