Well usually, pheasants get up and fly away from the hunter so you're actually shooting at their backside.....that is unless you are using a Big River Pheasant call and GHG fully flocked pheasants to decoy them in.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving! My day started great as I was blessed to wake up. Truely something I don't take for granted!

Then after the normal rituals (shaving showering getting dressed) I had the great privelage of raising the US Flag over my Missile Alert Facility! There was a nice breeze today and she flew proudly and I hope that everyone that drove by had chills when they saw her and maybe took a moment to say a prayer or a word of thanks for those deployed past and present fighting and dying for the freedoms she stands for!

Then my family was allowed to come out and eat with me and spend the day with me. I was able to show them a lot of the things I do. No one else had family members come out (they could have) but the troops out here had a blast with my kids. Morale was extremely high! Its amazing the joy children can bring!

My family left and my wife did some scouting (Have I ever mentioned how much I love her!!!! :D ) She is definitely my queen!! Anyway she called after a while and found a huge feed of snows and she said they were flying back to the roost. I hope they stick around.

Then the Flag was lowered, folded and secured for the night. My duty day is officially over although I am one deep so I must be ready to perform my duties at anytime during my "off duty time".

Now I will call some more family, watch some snow goose hunting on the tv, of course surf the hunting forums and then call it a night.

I am truely thankful for being an American, having the great privelage of serving this great country, having the family I have, being an avid outdoorsman, living in North Dakota and probably half a million other things!

I hope the rest of you had a great and safe day. Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!
