For those that know and those that don't know.

Marathon Petroleum in St. Paul Park, MN had an explosion today at roughly 8:30 this morning. The operator, name known but can't say name as of now, trying to fix a broken gauge was on the top of the tank. Something near the bottom of the tank exploded and had enough force to blow the top of the tank. The operator is still missing. Believed to be inside the tank. The tank is full of 250 degree fuel oil used to run the heaters for the refinery.

Here's the deal.....

The guy on that tank could have been my wife. He took over my wifes shift at 6am. 2 1/2 hours, and that could have been my wife. I'm thankful that it wasn't my wife. But, it hits home since I know him and his family.

Thoughts and prayers would be appreciated.

Well they drained the tank, all 550,000+ gallons of fuel oil and found Nick.

From what we are being told. He never felt a thing. According to the ERT's that pulled him out......not much left of his face. The blast killed him instantly.

Nice to know that there was no suffrage.

They are inspecting the tank to see if it is good to put a new roof on or rebuild a new tank. Odds are there will be a new tank. The last fire they had, they were able to save the tank.

"The last fire"!? thats sad, as a firefighter its tough to see when peoples lives are at risk because of stupidity.
