sorry no pictures to help out, but i shot a BULL mallard hen yesterday that has me puzzled. instead of the typical orange beak, this one was green with a small black spot on the nassle holes. The breast was not a faded brown to white pattern, like most hens in our area tend to hold when in full plumage either. the black V pattern feathers weren't distinct and the the tended to fade from black to darker brown. now like i said this is a question...i don't need harassment or a bashing contest of who holds more knowledge on here. i have never harvested a black duck, only seen flying and in pictures.

does anyone have any refference on this, or a picture of there's???

i know exactly what you are talking about! me and my boss shot one here in indiana 2 years ago...he got it mounted. the dnr did say it was a mix of a black duck and a mallard hen. it is wild looking.
