Hey guys.. I have a MAX 4 SMH..and i was curious if anyone out there has one also.. It seems to me and some of my hunting buddies that the call is not like a normal acrylic SMH.. it doesnt FEEL the same.. and sounds HOLLOW....almost like its made of plastic?? the "acrylic" is a dark yellow.. Can anyone tell me whats up?? the call still sounds pretty good.. but nothing like a normal SMH..THANKS

I know they aredipped in the same way benelli dips a gun. the Max-4 finnish would then feel a bit different, then regular acryllic. As far as sound goes, I don't know, is it tuned properly? I would probably have to play with the tuning some myself, if it was mine, see if I couldn't get it to sound the way I wanted, if not then I would give Big Sean or one of the other guys at the shop a call, see if they couldn't help.

goosers right im pretty sure its just the dipping method that makes it feel different. hold a synthetic gun then hold a camo gun and its a hell of a different feel.

They are just a dipped acrylic, not all are the same color of acrylic either...just whatever is handy sometimes. You may have a bad reed or the tuning is off. The dipping on the call doesnt change the sound. I have about 10 dipped calls sitting here and they all sound the same as the undipped calls.
Is there a chance it has a comp insert?

the call is tuned okay.. like i said.. it just sounds hollow.. i thought it may be the guts.. so i bought new guts and a new reed.... the problem is still there.. the call just sounds different... maybe hollower then the other SMH's.. it may be a competition insert.. ill compare it to my buddies SMH's.. thanks for the help!

I dont think it is a comp insert in your call. His call just doesnt sound as crisp as the other 3 smh's in the group. I dont know what is up w/ it but it sounds goofy. I tuned it up, had it in the sweet spot and it still sounded hollow, better, but hollow.

I am always scepticle of the camo calls b/c the camo tend to wear over the years. Well clasen got all of his calls dipped i am still scepticle. His two duck calls are awsome but that goose call just sounds goofy.
