Hey guys I currently shoot a Beretta A391extreama modified to a LH safety. I have been up in the air as to wether to go up to a Benelli or not. I really want to buy a Benelli SBE2 LH in either Max4 or synthetic.

I shoot a Benelli Nova and a Browning BPS 10 gauge. unfortunately the poll would only let me choose one. so add another tic mark to the browning numbers

I got to go with beretta. I have two A390s and a A391 extrema, planning on getting a new extrema2 soon. Best guns I've ever shot.

Hows the 935 been holding up for ya,I did have one and it was an automatic single shot, it wouldnt eject shells.I love mossberg guns except the 935.Then i switched to benelli and its an awesome gun!

I just can't see myself spending $1,200-$1,500 on a gun. For one, can't afford it. And second, a guy doesn't have to spend that much for a dependable shotgun. Just not into, "keepin up with the jonses." I shoot a Browning Gold 3 1/2", but I bought it used for way less than what they are going for in gun shops and stores. Just my two cents.

I agree with this guy, you can only shoot what you can afford! If you are a serious waterfowler, like anything else if you do it alot, you want the best tool you can afford. For some that means a Benelli, others something else. Obviously some are better than others. If you're only buying something for show, that's pretty stupid and immature, but on the flip side, there's nothing wrong with spending $1,400 on a gun if you can afford it. I personally shoot a Benelli SBE2, it's not cheap, but I hunt alot, and it should last me a LONG TIME! I don't think you can say that about alot of other guns. So do your homework, and buy the best gun you can afford! Shoot one before you buy if you can to see how it fits you, and ask around, check out others opinions. And be careful if you're buying used, some guys just tear one up and sell it, and get another. I personally can vouch for the Benelli, I've had other brands, and to this point I can honestly say this is the best gun I've ever owned, well worth the money if you can afford it, I've also heard good things about the Franchi's, just a cheaper version of the Benelli. Good luck guys!

I hunt ALOT and can afford the gun, the other thing i like is that when I shoulder the Benelli it doesnt feel like im swinging a cannon onto my shoulder. It just slips right into place!

I agree, I first held the new SBE2 at a gun show, and right then I knew I wanted it, it is alot lighter than the Browning Gold 3 1/2 I had, and it fit me perfectly, it swings real nice. So as soon as I could sell my Browning, I bought one. It took some getting used to alittle, but definitely been worth it!

Don't get me wrong fellas, Benelli's, Franchi's and all those are great guns. Yes, I'll agree that my Browning is like carrying a tree around, but I'm not walking miles and miles with it. So far, this Browning fits me the best of the three shotguns I've had. Other guns fit other people better than others. I'm just glad I got one with a 26in barrel. The 28in would seem 8 feet long and awkward.

Sorry if I started the This is better than this and that deal.

Well thanks for the input. I went to Scheels today traded in the Beretta and put the Benelli on layaway for a couple of weeks. Prolly pick it up towards the middle of the month.
SBE 2 LH MAX4 HD Camo 28" barrell. I guess benelli doesnt make the SBE 2 LH camo with a 26" , would have rather had that.

All depends mostly it my SBE but sometimes I like to shot a browning citori 3 1/2". Got it in '97 when I started to waterfowl hunt used it up to '02. Its still my favorite but to nice to hunt out of boat blind.

I hear you brother! I shoot a 26" barrel also, the 28" barrel definitely is awkward for me too. I'm sure it might have a little more range, but just too bulky for me. That's crazy Benelli doesn't make a 26" barrel in the LH, did you check their web site? Hopefully the guy wasn't just selling you on something? If you're a tall guy you might like the longer barrel.

i like the 26s as well. i haven an 1100 remington with the a 28 barrel and a wingmaster with a 26 and if that wingmaster was an auto the other gun would never be used. im lookin at both superx2 and a beretta with 26s but i cant decide which route to go. i was gonna hold out for the sx3 but was informed there arent really a whole lot of changes between the 2 and 3. and even if there are they still shoot 3.5s. they had to order me a sx2 with a 26 so when it comes in im gonna check it out but damn that beretta shouldered nice. choices choices choices.......

I'm sure either one will be a nice gun, but definitely get the one that fits you best. A 26 is a good all around gun, If I was only chasing Canada's or snows I would probably shoot a 28, but we shoot mostly ducks and a 28 is just too long and bulky in the blind.

IowaMigr8tor
05-01-2006, 09:11 PM
Well my Beretta was a 28" so it will be the same for me, but I wanted a shorter gun. With the benelli the longer barrel looks a little awkward compaired to my SBE 2 because the reciever on the Beretta is soo long.

Is the 28 vs 26 inch barrel a big issue for most of you??? I am 6 feet 2 inches, so it doesnt seem awkward to me..And does that 2 inches of barrel really make a big differance?

SMOKE
05-03-2006, 10:08 AM
im 6'2 as well and i can tell a difference. i shot a superx2 this weekend that was a 28 inch and it just felt bulky to me. i had a local gun shop get me in a superx2 with 26 so i could check it out and let me tell ya its a night and day difference. the 26 to me just swings alot better. even on the extrema i tried a 28 and a 26 and the 26 was the one i liked more.

SMOKE
05-03-2006, 04:48 PM
black for now but i may get it camoed eventually. i got a helluva deal on it too. the discount house in jerseyville hooked me up. i payed total what bass pro wanted for a 3 inch sx2 before taxes and the cost of gas to drive down and back twice.

Another thing you guys might want to look at with the whole barrel lenght thing is what is your gun chambered in. I have two 390s with 28 inch barrels and a 391 extrema with a 26 inch barrel. the 390s are 3inch guns and the 391 is chambered for 3.5 inch. The bigger chambers at more length to the overall gun. My 391 is actually a half inch longer than the 390s. Also the longer barrel will give you a higher velocity, usually about 10-20 fps more per 2 inches. And I believe that most factory specs on velocity are fired out of a 30 inch barrel. Just a thought.

midwest is right. i compared my superx2 to my 870 wingmaster 26" and 1100 remington 28"(both 2 3/4 guns) and the super x2 3.5 is probably an inch taller than the wingmaster. but is still an inch shorter then the 28 on the 1100. even still compared to how the other 2 shoulder it is a night and day feeling. i used to say my wingmaster was the best shouldering gun i have but now that i got that superx the superx shoulders even better. it even swings better than the wingmaster. cant wait for season to start so she can start grindin away.

Beretta Extrema2. The main reason I shoot beretta is because berettas kick "strait" back. Benellis kick up a lot more.

Made the switch from a SBE to a extrema 2 this year.

I think the SBE will be sitting next to the A-5 getting lonely.

Have any of you ever shot the Extrema with kick off? It is a dream to shoot keeps you on the birds and recoil is about 1/4th of the SBE.

I hate those over the head pile driver shots, screws my back up for a week! No more
