actually, calling geese 2.0 is horrible for the spit note. Jeff should have just left it out of the video b/c his doesn't sound very good. But the best instruction anywhere is John Taylor, it is on stormoutfitters.com. I don't know the exact link, but search around, or if anybody else on here knows the link I am sure they will post it.

I realize sickfreak that was your opinion, I respect that, and we all do, now you can read my opinion in regards to yours.
I guess when you become as accomplished as Jeff is and are ready to put out your second instrucitonal DVD to accompany your series of waterfowl videos, calls, products, etc, you can let us know so we can check it out and let you know what should or should not have been included.
Thanks & Good Luck.

Didn't mean to be controversial guys! I guess my post could be taken the wrong way. I have tons of respect for Jeff, but if you want to learn the spit note, it isn't the best place to do so. Most people usually reply by saying just get calling geese 2 whenever somebody asks a question on calling, but in this case, the video isn't very helpful. That is how I meant to say that.
Along with what I posted about John Taylor which is the best instruction I have ran across, goose talk on callingducks.com has a bunch of information on spit notes.

Now I kinda feel bad about how I said that. :( Just want to clarify that I did not mean to degrade Jeff or anything about FMI. Jeff has had a great influence upon our sport.

Sickfreak, I did interpret your post as how it read, however, I do also know that things do come across the wrong way when typed on these message boards. That being said, I was not trying to be controversial either, just wanted to state my opinion and step up to the plate for the organization I am involved with and defend Jeff. Thats all..... thanks for clarifying and not taking this any further.

I learned to do the spit note while I was messing around with my call....I just kept hitting it hard and letting the air out slowly afterward. After about ten minutes or so, it clicked, and I had blown a spit. I then tried to repeat it over and over and well, I didn't really succeed much!!! But I stayed at it. Pretty soon the willis note came real easy (a choked down, mellow version of a spit). And now the spit is coming along a lot better.
It took me a while to figure out that I had to retune my calls in order for me to hit a spit and not stick it completely. I have since retuned all of my calls, with the exception of my MH so that I can hit a spit. They take a bit more air now...but I can deal with that - as evidenced by my long winded posts
Practice makes perfect....just stay at it. I still don't have it perfected...but it's come leaps and bounds from where I was!!!!
