....i would call you guys lucky but its really not luck.

You are right Al....you guys need to understand that most of these birds are shot within 5-10 miles of a major refuge in PA. They band hundreds, and sometimes thousands of birds at this refuge each year and Scott and Brad and boys put a LOT of hours into searching out and scouting fields with bands in them. These boys could put up RIDICULOUS numbers if that's what they wanted to do....but they like the art of BAND HUNTING!!! Which is made a little easier hunting an area we affectionately call....BAND LAND!!!!

CONGRATS ON THE HUNT BOYS.....and THANKS FOR THE CALL

Maybe it's just my negative self......but I don't think it's that cool.

To shoot a band used to be a chore. Something that wouldn't come very often.

Then you get guys that target bands and collars, IMO, to look cool.

Bands are a trophy to me and thousands of others. Can't be much thrill shooting bands anymore for you guys.

Congrats on the hunt.

Shoot a band around here and it'll hit the news. Unless you're in Roch.

If you don't think its hatin', then you know substantially less than you think you know!!!! The guy posted up some pics, shares a story, is proud of it......no doubt made some memories with his family/friends.....and you get on here and more or less slam him for it (back handed compliment as you congratulate him for it at the end), but thats after you say what he did ain't that cool by the standards of the All Important, All Knowing, Gift to the Waterfowl Industry, Sarg. Somehow saying those 5 bands don't mean nothing would be like me saying that band your wife got on her first goose don't mean sh*t.......when you had a big story and picture of it.......when that ain't the truth. If you don't like the story and the outcome, or the bling he got, big f'ndeal....keep your mouth shut and go on your marry way.

I will restrain from saying what I have to say, to avoid being booted.

Only cause I'm gods gift to waterfowling

I say SGTSLTR is jealous, because we are gods gift to waterfowling. All kidding aside. It takes hundreds of geese decoying to find one band. That means feet down and would say within 20 yards to pick out a band on a moving bird. I associate with passing up a 16" eight point to try to get 150 b&c.

With all the bands that these guys shoot, they could definitely start a living on ebay it sounds like. Nice bands, just sucks to know that they all come from the same place, pretty much like that for us around here though. Theres two places that they band geese here and they're 30 miles apart. One in Indiana and the other in Michigan

No chance of seeing mine on Ebay

And just to set the record straight .....we do hunt around a refuge...probably about a 60 mile radius...and some of the bands we have recovered are from there....but its FAR less than half...more like 20%. Our bands have come from all over...PA, OH, MI, NY, IN, Ontario, many from Southern James Bay and even 1 from Virgina and 1 from Georgia.

Not that it really matters to me...the USGS gets just as much info from a bird that is banded locally and shot locally as they do from migrators. I would imagine it would help them in setting up nuisance seasons and bag limits.
