Scott:

Do you have any other ducks mounted??? What positions are they mounted in?

Personally....I REALLY like the preening poses. I also like the dead mounts.

The answers to the questions above should help us give you some ideas!!!

I have a black duck flyin on the wall and wood duck and hooded ganser both of which are just standing so far....i was thinking of maybe incoming or taking off?

I like the "jumping" poses too....the ones where they have just taken that first jump off the water (key to this pose is good habitat!!!).

I am not a big fan of the "incoming" mounts....just too typical I guess.

Like Spence said, I like the dead mounts, hangin on a game loop inside a shadowbox with little hunting odds and ends have always appealed to me. I am getting my wood duck standing on drift wood, with a wing out stretched plucking a feather...just another idea

these seem like good ideas....do you guys think dead mounts look good with one duck? and like i said...take those digital cams and snap some pics if you can?

I am hoping to get a dead mount (collecting specimens this fall) that contains a drake wood duck, a black duck and a couple drake mallards!!!

I think dead mounts look better with a couple birds, but you could always talk to the taxi and see if he can set it up so that you can add a bird or two to it down the road.

Just a thought!

I personally like the sitting or preening poses. I think my next mount is going to be two or three sprigs hanging from a game loop in a shadow box. Here are a couple of pics of what I have.

I like the dead mounts also, that is my next mount, start building a strap of greenheads with 2 others. Look like a days limit. Good luck to you!

Dead mounts work for me, but IMHO it needs to be more than one duck - a mixed bag is what I have.

Also, consider a 'bust' mount. By that I mean a dog's bust with the bird mounted as the dog would have retrieved it. I'm waiting on mine to be completed by a guy in Arkansas - a Chesapeake Retriever with big greenhead in his mouth.

My best friend is a taxidermist, I always give him the bird and tell him to do the best pose that particuliar bird will give. And I cant say that I have been disappointed at all in the birds I have gotten back
