1st day
We rolled into Paragould about mid-morning, got our licenses, had some lunch, then hooked up with a friend that was already down there to go out to a rice field near Sedgwick for the afternoon.
Let me tell you, we saw about 20,000 snows that afternoon and a pile of ducks as well. We only ended up with three because of poor shooting and not being used to hunting out of a pit in a rice field which caused us to shoot too soon on a nice flock.
It was a great start to the weekend.

Day 2
A friend that we were gonna go with to hunt some flooded timber had to work, so we hooked up with another guy and hunted his hole in the green timber on the st. francis river. Not tree hugging though, this was a blind.
Unfortunately, we didn't see hardly anything. The ducks did not fly at all. We ended up with 1 hen. My dad and I didn't really care for this blind because you're completely enclosed with a very small shooting hole. So you can't see very much.

Day 3
This day we hunted another blind in flooded timber that's kind of sandwiched in between the black river and claypool's reservoir. Our friend said he's killed a pile of ducks in this spot.
Once again though, the ducks didnt fly. You could see a little better out of this blind though, so it was more fun. We ended up with a couple drakes.
This day was fun because later in the day, we drove to lake ashbaugh and watched and listened to a pile of ducks. It was damn cool to hear all the hens going back and forth.

Day 4
This day was the REAL DEAL. We put in at Brookings on the black river and had about a 5 min boat ride down the river and through the timber. Then we parked the boats and walked about 150 yds back to a hole in the timber. We went with a nephew of a good friend of ours here in our town, who has been on video hunts with brad and buck gardner and I believe is taking them on a video hunt this week. And finally, we saw some ducks.
They started flying right off the bat and it was so damn cool to stand there next to a tree, shake your leg, and watch them come into this hole. First thing we had a pair come in to meet their demise. Then we had a group of 8 come in just perfect, but they landed on the opposite side of the hole from where we were standing, so we waited a couple seconds, then they jump up and the only place for them to go is right at us, so we killed every last one of 'em. Later on we had about 10 woodies and a single drake mallard dive bomb us, so we killed the drake and dropped 4 woodies but they swam off into the timber and we never found 'em.
We ended up with 9 mallards, but couldnt find those 4 woodies and 3 other mallards, so i'll say we got 16 ducks total

Part of a group of about 20 that lit in the timber just outside the hole.
