What is the differents between a lesser and a regular goose. Can the birds tell a difference in the decoys or does it matter? Is it worth paying more for a full size decoy?

geese have VERY poor depth perception! Thus the reason those GIANT SUPERMAG SHELLS work/ed! A lesser does not have as much visibility, but if you have a pretty good idea of what you are doin, and are in a good area, lessers, honkers doesnt matter. We will be running 15 doz FFD lessers next fall, because they look great, take up less room as honkers, are less expensive.

Good, cheap, fillers. We run some in our spread, 2 doz to be exact. They look really good in the spread. I know they have bad depth perception but the decoys really add a contrast in geese to your spread.

I feel it doesnt really matter.Yes it does give your spread a more life like appearance some will say, but the lesser's are so much easier to transport, take up less room in the trailer and to pack in.My rig consist of 1/2 full sized and lesser sized deeks.Because of the ease of using the lessers,Im seriously looking at switching my whole rig over to lessers before next season starts.Plus the lessers are quite a bit cheaper, you can pick up the lessers up for around $124.99 a six pack.

Like Derek said, we each have a dozen of the pro-grade lessers and they're awesome decoys IMO. Like everyone else said, full size decoys take up so much more room. We have a dozen lessers in the biggest Avery 5-slotted bag you can get, but like I said 1 dozen in the bag not 6. 2 per slot, a feeder and an active in each slot with the active heads facing into the middle of the bag so they don't get damaged.

One other advantage of the lessers is that they take less wind for them to move than the full size honkers do. The lessers aren't much bigger than GHG FB mallards and if you've ever used them, you know they move with very little wind. Same goes for the lessers. If there's not much wind and you've got a few lessers out, you still have some movement. Put 'em on the front edges/tips of the spread.

The lesser decoys are not that much smaller than the average goose we get. We run about 5 doz lessers out of a spread of 14 dozen, IF I could re-buy my entire spread I would go with primarily lesser decoys with a few lookers/resters mixed in for a different look.

THe big bags work for putting 12 in a bag, but I have recently started buying the lesser bags---a real time saver for me. Since the FFDs come with a bag I am a big fan of the FFD over the pro-grade.

we run both, not sure if the geese can tell the difference or not, but it adds to the spread and looks great.

another nice thing about the lessers, they fit in the full body mallard bags really saves on space.
