Girlfriend got me the new strait meat mallard for christmas...first high end call ive ever had, im pumped! Would a Timber Rattler be a good partner for this call?

Timber rattler is more raspy and more of a lower toned hunting call but i like to use both.

Ya a timber rattler would go great with a smm. I have them both and they complement each other very well.

You cant go wrong with the TR. Just put air into it. It is by far the duckiest call i've ever blown.

Since you now have a screamer, the TR would be a great match, especially with a wood insert and a double reed. Very ducky.

If $ is an issue, the BGB Death Whistle, for $50, is an awesome little sweet talker.

The SMM is a double reed, should I get a double reed or a single reed TR? and How do i buy a numbered one?

I would go single reed (louder) on the SMM and double on the TR (softer/duckier). As long as you have both single and double reed wedges, you can always switch them up.

As for a numbered TR, check the "Yard Sale" or on Ebay. You might not get the color you want though.
