Well guys my bad luck continued from turkey season into my black bear trip to New Brunswick...the weather was O.K. the bears just didn't want to cooperate. They were hitting almost all the baits hard, only problem was they were hitting them in the middle of the night. I saw one absolute monster after shooting hrs. actually I couldn't see through my peep sight or I would have let my Mathews Black Max 2 eat!!! I had it figured at being some where around 11-15ft. long HAHA but when your sitting in the stand in the middle of the Canadian wilderness with a stick and string in hand waiting for your guide to show up things tend to get blown out of proportion. Seriously I figured it was around a 7 footer by the way it took up the 15 foot shooting lane, thats a pig any where you go!!!

I had a great time hang'n out with Mr. Strait Meat and Pro-Staffer Barney Faletti as well as all the guys from Ugly Bear Lodge. If you're looking for a quality hunt to fill up your off season, check out Ugly Bear Lodge on the hunting resource section of the FMI web site or go to http://www.uglybearlodge.com/
These guys treat you like royalty and bust there butts to give you every opportunity to be successful, and they feed you until your ready to burst then serve you dessert, if you don't like that your a shell of a man!!!

You need to go help an old lady across the road to get your Karma back in line bud. Sounds like fun times either way.

Johnny...

hey, your not alone with the bad luck brother................I have yet to score on a longbeard this year....I can't believe it!...I've had tons of jakes come into almost every set up.....longbeards close but either no clear shot or just out of range.....been chasing a monster at one place all season....

so, my buddy goes there this morning to hunt...pouring down rain...never heard a gobble...7:15am...calls and hears a birds clucking..CLOSE..looks out of the blind....big long beard....less than 10yrds...BANG...game over!
I haven't heard the stats yet but if he says its big...its BIG...

probably the 12 inch beard bird I've been after...
that's his 6th one of the season....its really tough when you get to hunt EVERY day......us workin' stiffs just can't compete...
Well, tomorrow's another day...and I'll be out after them again...I'll let you know how I make out...............

I think Kelly may be on to something here Grinder, except, maybe you need to stick to what you know best..............and bag & tag some blue hairs. That will for sure get your confidence back....you know what they say, if first not succeed, try and try again.

Grinders right we had a great time! We did eat like pigs, but sittin around waitin to go at 3 p.m there ain't much else todo.
I did write a story and will get it in a paper but I didn't fair well either. I am like most avid bowhunters worried about every workin part of the system. So I had 12 new easton axis arrows fletched in Edmonton at a bow shop, all new steel foce broad heads and practiced up. The big bear came in Wed. night and I filmed it, as I took the 22 yard shot I saw something fly off to My right, at My dismay I rewound the camera only to see the fletching flyin off the arrow, then found the others on the ground. I hit the bear, but we jumped it the next mornin and it was fine, hard tellin where it got hit. We checked out the rest of the arrows and the fletchings all came off, not enough glue or the wrong kind. Boy was I p......ssed. After watchin the video it was a real nice bear. That was My only chancebut the bears were being nocturnal and we were there early in the season but they were hittin the baits hard every night. Oh well do it again next year and kill Grinders 15 footer. I think the Grinder was dreamin about chasin Blue Hairs up and down the Mn freeway leavin 15 ft. black marks with the ole grinder wagon, blue hair pickin up machine. Jeff

I had the same thing happen to me 2 yrs. ago. I bought new ACC arrows and had them fletched, the day before opening day of bow season. I had 5 in my quiver, I climbed up in my stand before daylight, and as I sat there and waited for daylight, I could see my fletchings curling off and falling on the ground (they were white). You talk about being pissed! The day was over before it could even start. They said they had a bad lot of glue or something, supposedly it happened to a bunch of other guys also. So I know how you feel.

Sounds like you guys had a pretty good time!!! Sucks that no one could close the deal on a bear.

Grinder....I think Kelly is dead on here. From the sounds of it, your karma is WAY out of whack....I am pretty sure I heard the local nursing home was looking for volunteers??? You could possibly kill two birds with one stone at a place like that bubba!!!!! Straighten up that karma and maybe even bag a blue hair at the same time!!!!
