Hey guys,
I just got my first Foiles, the Meatgrinder goose call. I love it already, all my buddies blow Foiles thats why I got this one, I should say Santa brought it, haha. Does anyone have any tips for blowing this call, I am just learning to do the gut calling style and am eager to learn all I can.
Thanks,
Mike

Go out and buy Calling Geese the Strait Meat Way 2.0 DVD, it will teach you everything you need to know.

Definately pick up the callin' dvd or cd. But some quick tips...the call does not take near as much back pressure as a flute...and the callin' all comes out of your throat...avoid the hard grunting like you would on an olt flute. Just open up your throat like a garden hose and the amount of air you push through the call will give you your cracking clucks. Also your left hand plays a big role in volume and control!

Learn the basics first. Get your honks (ohhhh wit or ohhh it) down and go from there. You can change the front and back end by putting in more or less voice (growl in the call). I also use my right hand for back pressure and hold the call in my left hand. That way I can blow the call and reach for my gun without too many problems. With the meat grinder I think you will be better off to just let your call hand cup the call and the other hand for back pressure and such like mig said. Don't choke it off in the beginning.
Once you start sounding ok on the honks try saying da, ga or the oh with a lot of voice in it and you shoudl start hearing the feeding growl. It takes time but once it clicks it a very cool thing.
Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing.

I'm in the northeast part of the state. Near Laurel. If you coming to chase pheasants, drop me line and I can get you headed in the right direction.

Yeah I'm not to sure what part we are heading too, I got invited from a buddy. But, Gear, what can you tell me about the spring snow goose hunt down there, I am on spring break in the middle of March and want to hunt some snows.

You can get a few weeks of hunting them if you get lucky. Just depends how mother nature plays the cards.
Congratulations on your new call, you should really like it....
