Yesterday one of the local DU chapters, had their spring gathering, I had to work, but I gave a buddy of mine some money for one chance in the top tier drawing for a life size hand crafted limited edition preening canada goose decoy. And for the first time actually won. It is the first of what I hope will be many collectible decoys. Who else collects dekes (the hunting spread doesn't count  )?

We had our spring banquet in April and all of the decoys seemed to be going very cheap so I thought I would try and bid on the Drake Pintail Decoy Rig. Most of the prints went pretty high but I got the Decoy for $75.00 Its sitting on top of the gun cabinet and looks sweet. I can never seem to win anything either. We had an eight year old girl who one two shotguns, she won the Henry 44 cal and a Nova. I did however come away with the Max4 swivel marsh seat in a raffle. Those events are a blast. Just wish I could have made it to WW2

Gooser, I have several collector decoys and sculptures from the DU banquets, I have a black duck, a mallard, and the 2005 sculpture of the year wood duck on a log. I won a raffle on a DU framed picture, they were raffling it at the local Dick's Sporting Goods. I'll post some pics when I get my camera working again.

For the good ones yeah, but to just decorate, you can get cheaper ones. The ones like mine at the DU banquet aren't cheap, but it's nice to have a few for looks and conversation pieces. Most of the DU decoys here end up selling from $125.00 to $250.00.

So what are the requirements of you? And what are the qualifications to join? I'm curious, because we really don't have anyone in the central and Southern Indiana area. I think the closest we have is
Scott Lovell in northern Indiana.

Is that going to be big enough for you? . Get you some aluminum pre-fabed ladder racks to mount to the top, put 3 or 4 of them on there, and you can use it to build you a rack on top with floor and sides to haul more on top if necessary, just carry a step ladder with you to access it. Single or dual axle?

It will be plenty big...I'm only gonna run about 7 dozen fulls and a dozen shells w/ some field mallards as well. Plus i'll use the thing to haul my 4 wheeler from time to time. i'm gonna build a removable shelving system on the inside. It's gonna be the cats ass by the time i'm done w/ it....
