I gotta tell u im confused as hell. jeff teaches to use the back half of ur tonge to end the note in fundamentals. but scott teaches it as using the tip of ur tonge and i have even had field hudnall from zinc teach the same way as jeff. any guys out there have an opinion. it make sense the way scott teaches it but i have been trying to learn useing jeffs cd. anyone have both and have an opinion and what the heck is up . scott says that anyone that teaches jeffs way is just trying to sell u a call versus teach u how to become a great caller. whats up?????

i've seen both, and personally started out calling using the tip of my tounge to cut off the notes, watched foiles video, tried not using my tounge, and couldn't do it. I just couldnt get the notes to sound good, or build up speed like i could while using my tounge. So i gave up on foiles way, and just kept using my tounge. I just resently bought Bad GRAAAMMMERRR (i like how you made it so that when anyone types Bad GGRAMMERR that it comes out Bad Advice Kelly), and love it. not only does it make sense to use the tip of your tounge but it is easier. Scotts cd goes 10x more indept then foiles does. I think that Foiles could have spent more time explaining how to run the Strait Meat Honker, rather then going through all the other calls. Dont get me wrong, there is somethings that work better foiles way, and there are somethings that work better scotts way. Its mainly all a matter of personal preference. Watch both, try both ways, and see which is easier for you!

Learn to use both methods, takes a little time but well worth it later on.Like mentioned above it helps me to be able to use both methods depending on what note or sound Im looking for.

Both, combining them gets ya a little more speed, and gives you some more options leading into the next note.
In the beginning, do what is easiest for ya, but make sure it sounds right, don't start bad habits. Be smart, but its not rocket science.

You might want to check out Breakthrough 2. Dave talks about this, essentially there is no right or wrong way, just different methods of achieving the same thing. I think that Scott went a little too far in his DVD, certainly having a passive tounge has not hurt Freddie or Jeff.

I would think if you're going to constantly rip on Scott Threinen's DVD you could atleast spell "Advice" correctly. Don't you think it's a little childish to make it where when you type the title it comes up as "Bad Advise"? Everyone has different opinions whether you like it or not. Seems pretty unprofessional and pathetic to me...

If that bothers you that much...you are so in the wrong place. You ain't seen nothing yet...check your feelings at the gate around here or they're gonna get hurt.

I have pretty thick skin but it's just a bit ridiculous don't ya think? Just because Scott offers conflicting advice from what Jeff teaches he's automatically wrong and it's bad advice?

I honestly don't think it matters how you call. If you can sound like a goose, that is the main point.
Kinda like travel, how you get there doesn't matter as long as you get there. You go by plane, I go by covered wagon....

I use the tip of the tougne. I can cluck and double cluck much faster, opposed to using the back of your tougne.
