I just bought an RNT Original and I threw some notes together, this isn't a routine. I haven't been duck calling long so here it goes. Feel free to critisize

I've been in a few goose comps and I want to start to get into duck calling more.

Stick to the goose calling, na just kidding. Im a good goose caller myself, just starting with the whole duck calling thing like yourself. Ive just never had to call ducks with the group I hunt with, Ive always done alot of the goose calling.

Yeah, where we hunt theres people blowing their duck calls like crazy at the ducks all day so we never really used calls. I screwed up on my chuckle in the beginning.

It sounds like you are pushing some of the notes a little too hard. But that will come in time. If you can call geese, blowing a duck call will come quick. All in all, not too damn bad. I know a lot of guys that could'nt get a hail call out (good or bad) if thier life depended on it.

My call was sticking a little and I had to blow harder to get it to quack. Ill post another one of both duck and goose tomarrow.

etmccain-seems like you know your stuff, how many notes is your standard competition hail call?

It just takes time bud. For me the hail is one in it's own. You cnat blow it like a quack or any other tone. Try adding a higher pitch to your voice and getting it out in short, quick notes at first to get the sound you want. The build on it from there. It'll come in time, oce you get it, you'll never loose it. I just finally got the Squeal down, i cant wait for this season to see how it works on birds.

Make sure you are ringing your hails every time. A lot of the notes sounded flat. And make sure you control your hails. The sounds were going all over the place. One hail would be higher pitched than the one before it. I'm telling you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.

Here is a routine to listen to. Nowhere near the best routine out there ,but it will give you a basis of what I'm talking about.

Here's the link to John Stephens' routine from 2005 at Stuttgart.* Look for other routines out there, but look for final round or winning routines.* Theres no point in trying to sound like a gut who got bounced early.* Keep at it and practice as much as the people around you can take and build your air up.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=72Lf5uYJfZMI was going to post this routine because personally I listen to it a couple times a day on my phone. However I was too lazy to look for it. Thanks for putting it up.

I hope you weren't talking about me being the guy that gets cut early though.

Sorry if it looked that way Trevor. I thought about that when I posted, that it might look $hitty. Nothing towards you dude.
