Was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the meatgrinder goose call, if so what did you think. I'm interested in buying the max-4 version. If you have is it easy or does the call make deep or mellow tones, or is it a better higher pitched call? Any help would be great please and thanks!

got one in smoke and i love it. picked up a smh in max4/smoke and love it as well. its a great all around call for the price. im still learnin but ive seen a lot of guys be able to do just about any sound with one they want. give the shop a ring and discuss tuning with them or hit up a local prostaffer.

I have a MG, and it is a great call. This call is an injection molded polycarbonate and not turned out of acrylic, but still sounds good. Because of the polycarbonate material there are some sound/tonal differences between it and say a SMH. It blows the same, and depending on the tuning can sound very close to a SMH. For me, it does not have the clarity of an acrylic call, but if your looking for a great place to start and can't spend the money on an acrylic now, buy a MG.
However, my advice would be is to take that $60 you would spend on the MG, save $90 more and buy an acrylic.........not taking anything away from the MG, but I am telling you from experience, you WILL buy more than one call, and the only logical step is acrylic.....but, that's just me....let us know what you decide.
P.S. As far as I know there are no Pro-Staffers in MB, I know there is one in Quebec, and I am in Northern MN.

the Meatgrinder is a great all around call...I use one alot....I have 2
1 Wetlands camo and one new one in clear/Max 4 that I picked up at WW2
Meatgrinder is a loud call with a little more "growl" or rasp to it compared to an acrylic....
whether you decide to buy a Meatgrinder or save up for a SMH I don't think you'll be disappointed....there both great calls....
good luck.....keep us posted with what you get...

I have never heard of anyone being dissapointed or regret buying a Meat Grinder, they sound great. If you are new to SR calls, it is a great call to get your feet wet with, then later down the road you can step up to one of the acrylics like the SMH or MH, to name a few. Good luck deciding, and like NJ said let us know wich one you choose.

Don't get me wrong, the Meat Grinder is a great sounding call, even BETTER for the money. Like the other guys say, it has more of a raspy/buzzy sounding call (which is a sound that I like), and I beleive it sounds best tuned as a bigger, rather than smaller goose.
But if you are just looking for a starter call to get yourself going, thats alright, but when you decide to make the jump to acrylic, you will not be disappointed with any of the calls in the Foiles Line....they are top notch calls.....keep us posted, and ask if you have any further questions.

I have always liked the meat grinder, I actually won a contest a few years ago with one, I use a smh honker most of the time, and now a showtime, but if the Meat grinder is in your budget, i wouldn't hesitate to get one , i think they sound great , the acrylic is somewhat more durable but either way, you should be happy..

Thanks again for all the reply's, I still can't make up my mind, I'm really into the max-4 camo and the price is pretty much right for the mg but i've always wanted an acrylic call. I really like the looks of the ''Strait Meat'' Honker Camo Dipped Goose Call. I'm going down to Fargo in a couple of weeks and have a new goose call on my shopping list so i will let you guys know what comes home with me when i get back! I plan on getting a foiles call but which one not sure. No pro staff in Manitoba..i didn't think there would be, I should get better on my calling then apply  I love hunting and love a challenge, anyways thanks again guys!
