How old is your pup? You must remember that the attention span of a pup is very short so you are better off having several 5 min lessons rather than a 20 to 30 min. lesson. As for the barking get yourself a news paper and give it a little wack. You don't have to knock the heck out of them but, give it alittle wack and scold it. Just make sure that you are consistant in how you correct it when it is misbehaving. Brad

depending on age, she could be going through her first heat cycle.

like B MILLER say's how old is your pup? generaly most pups around 2 to 6 mo old are testing you (you know the terrible 2 syndrome) on who has dominance, let your pup know your the BOSS dont over correct but let them know your the boss , keep reinforcing that over and over again hope this helps

let us know glad to help :D

shes 12 weeks old guys. mom called me this morning after i got to work and said she threw up the food i had fed her before i left for work. mom took her out to the vet today and they checked her over and gave her a couple shots and said it might have been a bladder infection or just a small flu or somethin. she had a fever but it was still almost on the normal side he said. have an antibiotic i have to give her 2 times a day. she was in a lot better spirits tonight when i got home from work. guess it was her way of sayin she was sick. thanks for the replys though guys. this is my first pet ever and i get kinda paranoid.

i got my pup out in illinois at the first WFW and when we came home i started training her then and there. she would be good but then it all stopped and she went and did her own thing. like the others said. just keep training her b/c she is learning it takes about a little less then a year for the attension span to be were it is needed. goodluck

12 weeks is very young so do get too worried. So do need to some what firm of not letting her START any bad habits like nipping on your hand. Enjoy her while she's a pup they grow up fast!

well guys she was doin better but she got sick again about 330 this morning so evidently she still isnt better gonna have to take her back to the vet. she had just come back in the house from goin to the bathroom and went in her crate and i heard her get sick. another thing we have noticed lately when she sleeps or breaths sometimes it sounds like a human with a head cold she kinda rattles. hopefully this trip to the vet will do the trick.

sometimes they can have a respritory infection like kennel cough or maybe its just snoring ? as for the throwing up it might be food sensitive like my lab , what kinds of food are you feeding it? ive had the best luck with pedigree my lab does'nt like imes very well also are you feeding it table scraps? try small amounts 3-4 times a day, sometimes if they eat to fast there stomach can't handle it and up it comes, is it food or mucas?let me know!

you might want to try giving the pup a real bland diet for a while if she throws up again. I had a similar problem with my pup earlier this spring and the vet told me to give her some rice with either hamburger or boneless chicken breast mixed in. Small doses 4 or 5 times a day. the vet also said to "dry her out" for a while. Just give her ice chips for water and no food to stop the vommitting for the first 12 hours. She came around in a couple of days and have not had any problems since. The vet also said that she could have Immodium if Diarhea was a problem; but I would consult your vet first before doing so b/c the dosage varies by weight of the dog

I guess I haven't had much to add to any discussions lately. I have been periodically checking in. I had to ditch the avatar's. I use my work pc to get on here and I had all of those pics saved on my hard drive. I got paranoid and erased them. It was a good thing though; b/c my pc took a crap and they gave me a different one. Eventually they figured out what was wrong with my old one and gave it to another guy. I don't imagine it would have went over real well to have someone find those pics of the racks holding racks on a work computer ;) Next time I get some free time; I will see if I can get a pic on here that does not include my ugly a$$.

Same problem with my friends black lab. She was crazy. and so smart. One time we went hunting one morning and we wernt goin to take her and she got out of the house and it took 45 minutes to get her back in. We even put fresh steak in her face and she knew what we were doin. This was all while she was a pup. But now she's almost two. and she is still smart, but she has calmed down so much by a lot. And the same thing with her she wouldnt listen to anything that you said. So I'm sure of which it is just with your dog being a pup if she is now. Before the dog was even 8 months or so she was fixed. But thats up to you with your dog. Because from what I heard when a dog is fixed they calm down a bit.
