Ok, just over 2 months away for our early season opener here in central Iowa and I am itching bad!!! In fact, I already have some spots scouted out. Who else gets a special early season and what is your daily limits? We get 3 a day instead of our normal season crappy 2 bird limit. Also, I heard Illinios was switching to a 3 bird limit during their regular season. Is this true?

Up here in Wisconsin we can shoot five a day in the early season, and yes I'm getting pretty pumped myself in the past week I most have watched every video I own three times, looking forward to the new show to start to help get my fix.

I am pumped as well!!! Here in PA we had a 8 bird limit in Sept I have been hearing rumors as high as 15 in some areas of the state I normally stop at five as to not burn out the resource though. For me Sept is the time of year I can get my Dad out with me (he is getting older and not so good health) I also get my son (who is five) out on the river because it is still warm and water stage is normally low. The time spent with both of them in the field is the most important thing to me. Harvesting a few birds is a bonus.

Can't wait either. January seems like forever ago. Ohio ususally has a five bird limit but it was changed to 3 last year. No word yet if it will go back to five. There are plenty of resident geese here so I don't know why it shouldn't go back to 5. It's usually hotter than hell here in September though.

Up here in Maryland DNR is going to start a new early bird season program for the residents. And you can shoot 15 birds with no bag limit. You don't have to have your plug in so you can hold your max. amount of shells. This all starts on Aug. 1st. I'm usually still fishing this time but this year I think I will be hunting as long as there are geese to shoot considering that it might be to warm. But you have to sign up for the program and it is only on private proprety or DNR regulated areas.

Here in MN we have a 5 bird limit in the Metro area, Rochester area is 2 birds and I beleive Laq is 2 birds, don't quoet me on that. I don't follow Laq Qui Parle much, there are an A$$ load of birds there, but during regular season you can only shoot one bird, and you have to register it. I'd be willing to put money on it that there are over 200,000 birds there during the regular season. Anyway, We got some primo fields locked up this year, really looking forward to it! 1,000 acre sod field, water spot with corn and hay around it. I can't wait!!!!!!!

I don't think that we are going to be short on decoys this year Dekker (iawaterfowler88). Since I have a dozen full bodies 2 dozen shells and my 2 dozen Outlaws. And Im buying a dozen new BF's and Derick is buying 2 dozen BF's. I wants some goose floaters too. And I dunno about ur dad going, cause I got a bunch of people wanting to go. We could set up 2 spreads though?

Iawaterfowler, Im talking about the early season here, not where you're at. I dunno if I would be able to make it up there anyway with work and all. But starting september 1st, Im going to cut my hours back hardcore, like to only 20 or 25 hours a week, 2 or 3 days a week. One of Jordan's buddies has a big hayfield by a river that apparently holds alot of locals and the lady used to let a group of hunters hunt it but she got mad cause they kept driving back into the field when it was wet and sogy. So that could be awesome?!?! I'm dieing!! Havent killed anything since May 7th when I whacked that big 'ol longbeard!! haha

I live in Minnesota in the early season we can shoot 5 per person and late is 2 i also have some good spots scouted out what kind of feilds do u normally hunt?????
Killer Miller
07-07-2006, 01:10 AM
Well, I always just hunt water during the early season since here in Iowa corn is king and they dont starting cutting it until about mid-late October normally. Then we start hunting the corn fields pretty hard. Scout, set-up, and kill is what I like. But like I said, hopefully we'll get into this hay/grain field by a water source which happens to be a small river. And I am sure there are roost ponds close, since farm ponds are everywhere here in Iowa. Well, probably not compared to MN but still seems like alot.
