Just wondering about the DMM sound vs. SMM sound?? I also wondered is there a difference in the tone of a dipped Max 4 vs. standard acrylic??

not a staffer but i have bolth the smm & dmm , my opinion on the two is the smm is a tad bit louder. if i get on it in the car it hurts my ears.the dmm i think is the better all around call between the 2 . i like the dmm better but i would use the timber rattler before either of the 2, i dont hunt big water much and when i have the conditions where right that i could use the t/r , most of the time i hunt flooded timber, small ponds, and wooded rivers . as for the max-4 issue i belive it makes the call a little mellower , i've blown regular acrylic smh's and my max-4 is mellower. it could be the way there tuned but i think its the dipping. i had 3 t/r's 2 max-4 and one not dipped. the max-4's in the duck calls sound the same ,but are softer then the plain acrylic . like i said i'm not staffer but this is my theory on the matter. but again could be in the tunin. hope it helps and sure u will get some better responses

Thanks for the reply. I have a smm in max 4 and just ordered the max 4 dmm....I hear they are the best call around??? Hope so anyway. I am learning to call slowly.......on the self teach program and want to learn so bad I can taste it. I recently bought the SMH as well and love it.
