Along the same lines if you were going to buy dozen new mallard dekes(floaters) what would you go with. Its time to upgrade and I'm also curious what everybody thinks.

I think I'll stay with Bigfoots, no reason to change. As far as mallard dekes, I bought a couple dozen GHG oversize mallards, and I really like them, I've not really had any problem with paint chipping or wearing off, I've also had my eye on the new Cherokee decoys, Duck Commander series, they look good and have the sleeper duck poses also. The good thing is, duck decoys are definitely getting better and more life like every year, definitely alot more choices these days! :D We carry a few dozen flambeau water keel decoys to carry in by hand on some streams that we hunt (alot lighter to carry), other wise we use the GHG mallards, shovelers, and a few teal and one or two black ducks thrown in sometimes, also still use several dozen flambeau magnums and super magnums.

I have allways used flambeau ducks, but a couple of weaks ago I ordered a bunch of the FA Top Gun Mallards, and they look pretty darn good, they come with both high and low heads that swivel, and a removable weighted keel, the paint looks pretty good, but they haven't been put to the test yet, but for now I give them the thumbs up.

I had a buddy of mine buy a couple dozen of those hotbuys, they were very cheap in price, but they didn't hold paint at all, at the end of one season they looked horrible, and a couple of them developed leaks and sank, they are kind of like disposable decoys in my opinion. How have your's held up?

I have only used flambeau duck dekes, they proved to me there durable and long lasting, but i have had every goose decoy and bigfeet r the ticket.GHG goose decoys break and look like a white goose by the the end of the season.Im just curiuos bout the n ew FA decoy cause they look good!

hoosier, it depends i have 3 dozen, last season i lost like 4 too sinking and whatnot, overall the paint is holding up quite nicely, just as well as my ghg woodies. many of them have leaks but i beat the crap out of them, and i think the leaking is due th the fact that i left them out overnight and they were frozen in a half inch of ice, witch explains why the keels are starting too pull away form the decoy, also the keel design is horrable, you get some wicked tangles if not carefull, the only anchors that stay on are ace anchors.
but overall there a good decoy for the money, better than flambeus or any comparable decoy, if you need lots of decoys for cheap go for it.

I too use a mix of flambeaus and hotbuys for mallard dekes and my hot buys seem to be holding up alright, Luke I'm curious you mentioned big foot might be coming out with duck dekes care to elaborate?

I've used the same 2 dozen hotbuys for two years now and they have held up great. You can't beat them for the price. Got some oversized pintails and shovelers before last season and they held up great. Shovelers look sharp. They really put color into your spread. The keels on the hotbuys do suck though but the oversized decoy's keels are really nice. Used a dozen ghg field mallards last year and they didn't wear at all and I wouldn't go into the field without them. They all have motion bases and move with ease. As far as the ghg field goose decoys go they have their ups and downs. I think they by far have the best looking decoys but they do wear easy. Don't buy the fully flocked bodies because no matter how well you take care of them they wear hard. But the pro and hunter decoys wore about the same as any other decoys I've had. We didn't get the six slotted bags for all of our dekes until late December and not one looks close to being white. But we had a couple geese land on some dekes and it snapped the foot bases like nothing.

For goose deeks you cant beat big foots. For duck deeks we use a mixture of hot buy's and flambeau's for hunting at a marsh we lease. But if we're going someplace new, we take a couple bags of carry-lite magnums.
why didn't you just call them about it? (http://818.therentchannel.com) :D (http://925.therentresources.com) :) (http://402.rentonbudget.com) :P (http://888.weknowrent.com)
